The weather was playing games during Week of Welcome at CSULB, though not enough to stop Active Minds and other wonderful organizations from participating in the event. Rain, drizzle, or sunshine, Active Minds will still be there. Week of Welcome is an event on campus that allows ASI and other various organizations and departments to welcome new and returning students as well of offer them ways to get involved and have fun on campus. Remember there is more to campus then just going to classes and reading textbooks. Week of Welcome was a huge success for Active Minds! About 70 students, including some faculty signed up from different majors and departments. We had  great responses from many individuals, and it appeared from the event that there are many students out there that are aware of mental health issues that go on not only on campus but in the world. Suicide is the second leading cause of death among college students. Students and faculty at Week of Welcome understood the importance of getting rid of stigma on mental health. We are all very excited to have students from different departments sign up since we are striving to create awareness of our organization within all departments. The beauty of our organization is, even if students are unable to attend meetings, we welcome them to sign up because they can make a difference by spreading the news about our upcoming events and/or giving us fresh ideas to better serve our campus and communityIn addition, we participate in events that try to accommodate to diverse schedules so that those that can't make our meetings can still have the opportunity to meet our members, raise awareness for our cause and have fun!

Just a reminder, we will be participating in the Alive and Running Walk on Sunday, September 26th, and NAMI Walk on Saturday, October 2nd. For a full schedule of our events, make sure to take a look at our semester calendars. Also, for more information please feel free to contact us @ activemindscsulb@gmail.com. Hope to hear from you.
